Only Sailfish Club Members’ children, 15 and under (at tourney time), will be eligible to win the Ted Glasrud Outstanding Junior Angler Award.

 

2024 OFFSHORE JUNIOR ANGLER TOURNAMENT RULES & REGULATIONS

 

  1. BOAT REQUIREMENTS: Minimum length 17 feet for offshore entries. All boats must be Coast Guard equipped and must have a minimum of two occupants. Current fishing license not required for under age 16.

     

  2. CHECK OUT/IN: TEXT (772) 888-6337 Boats may check out of the St. Lucie Inlet buoy by text beginning at 7:00am. All boats must check in after entering the inlet.

     

  3. LINES IN/OUT: Sabiki rigs only prior to 8am. Fishing will begin at 8:00am and end at 1:30pm. Any fish hooked prior to lines out that may exceed the 1:30pm “lines out” time must be called in to (772) 888-6337. These boats will be given late privileges. All fish hooked prior to 1:30pm may be fought until released or landed.

     

  4. FISH & TACKLE: ALL SAILFISH MUST BE RELEASED WITH VIDEO ID AND TEXTED IN TO (772) 888-6337 TO QUALIFY. In the event of a tie for sailfish, the award will be based on the earliest recorded time of release. Eligible meat fish must be at least 20 inches fork length (except snapper or tuna-12”; and cobia & amberjack-33”) and we encourage the release of smaller fish. Only one species, per category, per angler, will be accepted for weigh-in, so choose your largest. Trolling or drifting is acceptable with natural or artificial baits. Live bait is permitted.

     

  5. SAILFISH ONLY: If natural bait is used, only sailfish caught with a non-offset circle hook are eligible. J-hook caught sailfish are eligible only if the J hook was rigged with an all-artificial lure.

     

  6. BOUNDARIES: All boats must fish within an area bounded to the North to the Ft. Pierce Inlet and to the South to the Jupiter Inlet. NO MORE THAN 35 MILES OFFSHORE.

     

  7. WEIGH-IN: Scales will be open from 11:30am to 2:30pm at Fish Heads Bait and Tackle at Sailfish Marina; followed by a cookout at The Sailfish Club Tiki at 2:30. The Award Ceremony will begin at 4:00pm.

     

  8. AWARD CATAGORIES: Sailfish (release), Dolphin, Wahoo, Kingfish, Tuna, Grouper, Bonito, Cobia, Amberjack, and Snapper. Prizes will be awarded for the highest points in each species – First, Second, and Third. The Ted Glasrud Perpetual Outstanding Junior Angler Award will be based on 1pt./lb. meat fish (measured to 1/100th of a pound) and 25 pts. per sailfish on live bait or 50 pts. on dead bait.

     

  9. Photograph or record any unusual fish caught but not weighed in for possible trophy.

2023 INSHORE JUNIOR ANGLER TOURNAMENT RULES & REGULATIONS

 

  1. BOAT REQUIREMENTS – No minimum size, can fish from shore, canoe, kayak, or any vessel approved by the committee. Life jackets are required for each person on board. Vessels not equipped with VHF radio must have a charged, working cell phone.

     

  2. CHECK OUT/IN – Boats may check in/out By Text (772) 888-6337 starting at 7:30am. All boats must check out for your fish to count.

     

  3. LINES IN/OUT – Fishing to begin at 8:00am and end at 1:30pm. Any fish hooked prior 1:30pm may be fought until released or landed. However, all boats must check-in by 3pm.

     

  4. TACKLE REQUIREMENTS – All fish must be caught with rod and reel, hook, any line, any test, NO WIRE ALLOWED. Baits may be fly, live bait, natural bait, or artificial lures.

     

  5. BOUNDARIES – North to Ft. Pierce inlet and south to Jupiter Inlet

     

  6. WEIGH-IN: Scales will be open from 11:30am to 2:30pm at Fish Heads Bait and Tackle at Sailfish Marina; followed by a cookout at The Sailfish Club Tiki at 2:30. The Award Ceremony will begin at 4:00pm.

     

  7. ELIGIBLE SPECIES – Jacks (12”+), Sheepshead (12”+), Snapper per FWC regulations, Tarpon, Snook, Trout, and Redfish will be based on length only. Photos to be taken with measuring device

     

  8. POINT SYSTEM – Points will be awarded for fish within size requirement. Points will be awarded at 1 pt. per pound for weighed Fish and One Point Per Inch for measured fish. The largest fish in each species will count toward scores. Prizes will be awarded for the highest points in each species – first, second, and third.

     

  9. SCORING— Fish must be weighed in at the weigh station at the Stuart Public Dock and will be awarded at 1 point per pound measured to the nearest 1/100 of a pound.

     

  10. Photograph or record any unusual fish caught but not weighed in for possible trophy.
