HURRICANE DORIAN BAHAMIAN RELIEF FUND

Together we ARE making a difference!

Please help us, help our beautiful Bahamian neighbors.  As you know by now, the catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Dorian has left wide-spread devastation through-out the Bahamas. Lives were lost, many are still missing, and the livelihoods of countless Bahamians have been decimated.

The effects of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas were among the worst experienced for any natural disaster in the country. Hurricane Dorian Struck the Abaco Islands as a Category 5 on September 1, and a day later hit Grand Bahama Island at the same category. The hurricane then stalled over Grand Bahama for another day, finally pulling away from the island on September 3. Damage estimates are well over $7 billion.

STUART SAILFISH CLUB, FOUNDATION, led by Board of Directors President, Charlie Conigliaro, is continuing to partner with Captain Patrick Price of DAY MAKER CHARTERS. To date, over 100 MISSIONS and well-over 300 TONS of supplies have been delivered to West End, Grand Cay, Treasure Cay, Marsh Harbour & Sandy Cay. Our gratitude goes out to everyone who has donated, and a very special THANK-YOU to our corporate sponsors who have stepped up in a BIG way!

Nov 4th, 2019: It is hard to believe that it has been over 2 months since Hurricane Dorian ravaged the Bahamas. Let’s take the time to remember that they still need our help. The MARSH HARBOUR TAXI PROJECT was developed by Mike, Kesha, Jayc, Charles and Patrick Price. The final application date for assistance with this project was Nov 1st. Now the committee is reviewing the applicants and will devise a recipient list shortly. Applicants must meet the criteria that was set forth on the application. Once this part of the process is complete, we will provide further updates on the progress of the Taxi Project.

Dec 20th, 2019: TAXI PROJECT UPDATE
Patrick Price and Mike Basile, in partnership with Stuart Sailfish Club, and President, Charlie Conigliaro, have been working diligently to finalize the details for the 11 families/applicants that have been approved to receive vehicles.
Ed Morse Automotive Group is our community partner for these efforts, and is expecting to hold a “Purchase Event” in Late -January to early February 2020. Once the vehicles have been delivered to the Ed Morse Automotive Group, they will complete their 150-point inspection of each vehicle, prior to the event. Once the “Purchase Event” has concluded, arrangements will be finalized to have the vehicles shipped to Marsh Harbour. Our local media is very interested in our “Taxi Project” and will also help bring attention to the event.
The recipients have expressed a strong desire to thank everyone involved. Following the “Purchase Event” at the dealership, donors and recipients will be invited to an after Party at the Stuart Sailfish Club, so that they may meet each other!
Charlie, Pat & Mike are actively looking for additional donors to provide assistance with hotel accommodations, transportation to/from the events (for the 11 recipients), and a potential caterer for the after Party at Stuart Sailfish Club’s Tiki Hut.
We are SO close to seeing this particular project through to its’ fruition. Please donate as much or as little as you can.
As always…we thank everyone for their continued support.

FEB 19th 2020: The final phase of the Bahama Relief Project with Patrick Price (Day Maker Charters), Charlie Conigliaro (The Stuart Sailfish Club Foundation), Mike Basile, and the committee working to provide Taxi’s to several Bahamian’s who lost so much after the storm has been completed. The final recipients were contacted and have be awarded vehicles that fit the needs of those who lost their vehicles in the storm. Ed Morse Automotive Group in Del Ray Beach has been instrumental to the project. They had over 30 (used & inspected) vehicles that met the necessary export criteria and pricing for the recipients and are hosted an event to present the vehicles to the 10 Bahamians on Wednesday, February 19th, in Del Ray Beach.
It was an amazing site to see them pick out their vehicles. Ed Morse of Del Ray Beach did an outstanding job making this come to fruition.

Conchy Joe’s, The Dolphin Bar and Your Pie, along with the Stuart Sailfish Club Foundation have all had GoFundMe pages posted since the onset of the fundraising for the Bahamas. Caroline Dungan Bass also hosted a GoFundMe page on behalf of the Club for “Beds” in Boxes which provided 575 beds for the Bahama’s, which were delivered shortly after the storm. Together we have raised over $250,000. There are SO Many who have donated money, time, fuel and equipment that it is hard to list them all.
WE WANT TO THANK EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU AGAIN, FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEART. We have an amazing community that knows how to help their neighbors.
GREAT JOB!!!
